I have constipated about using ''rainX'' on my new windshield.

Because, on the bottle it says' ''dont use on plastics or painted
    objects''.

Nonetheless, I put a coat on.

Although, first I did put some on an area, at the bottom of the WS, and
after about 3 days, I couldnt see any noticeable ''mar'' or
    ''cloudyness'' and so 4th.

And the stuff didnt do anything to a painted area, nothing.(like it said
    it would).

We knew ,when we went south of here, that we'd probably catch some
'scattered showers''.However, lately twice to Jefferson, Marshall &
Longview area, we missed the rain, one way or the other. So haven't been
able to see how that stuff's gonna work/help.

Well today, I just experienced a ''real downpour'', and thank goodness I
had put two coats of RainX on.

That stuff kept the WS clear enough to have pretty dern good vision.
What it does is, keeps the water flowing, and rolling off in '' beads'',
not gathering up, so to speak.

    Good Stuff.

I like that rain x stuff. I use it on my truck. I have thought about
putting it on the wings windshield but just have never got around to
it. Louie put something on there one day and it shed water pretty
good. I will try some rain x next cleaning.

Yeah, just wait until you get the bike up to speed....then you'll find
out why the bottle said don't use it!

I have to look staight thru my fairly tall WS, so, I had to come up with
    something.
I've been concerened though, that RainX might ''cloud'' up the WS,
    because of the label disclaimer.

My buddy Skunk, within 6 months used so much chemicals to clean his WS,
that in no time, the boy couldn't see thru his, It was so ''mar'ed'' up.
He had to buy him another'un.

Consequently, I learned from that, and I never use ''windex'' stuff
like that to clean mine. I use warm water and mild dish liquid
detergent. On the road, I do not
briskly wipe on it, I gently wipe mine.

You know those dead ass bugs, when dry or like sandPaper. (IM0) FWIW.

A guy up over in RMH who works with plastics said intermittent use
wouldn't hurt - but over time it will start to cause the surface to be
brittle. I'm using Novus (his recommendation) to clean it then there's a
couple solutions to help buff out small and medium size scratches.

Could have used some rain-x on my glasses riding home this afternoon. I
was lucky though - seems I was on the edge of the rain and only met a few
    drips through Colleyville.

Back around a year ago I saw a version of Rain-X for Plexiglas and
Acrylic, but it was pulled from Rain-X's website soon after I saw it.
    Anyone else recall it?

Looks like the only mention I can find of it is old information in
the different chemical databases online. Looks like it was called
Rain-X Marine Windshield Treatment. Can't find anyone selling it
though. Found this on one site:

    Rain-X Marine Windshield Treatment

Formulated for marine conditions to reduce the loss of visibility due
to spray, waves and rain. The nonstick, invisible barrier repels water
improving visibility, safety and driving comfort for every boater.
Safe for glass and Plexiglas applications. Safe for Plexiglas & glass.
Repels water spray and rain on contact. Increases visibility and
    safety.

from what I heard, you knocked the entire bottom out of that Might
Valk....took you a week and an expensive early oil change to get it
back running while not on that trailer.

if you'd leave the trailer business to us experts, you wouldn't have
those problems....I can even out run a trailer while the bike is
strapped on it....that trailer NEVER passes me!

I had overlooked in my dementia'ed mind, that I had lowered the Mighty
Valk, 3 inches, and didnt position the trailer properly, that's all.
Only missed calculated ''1 little inch'' mind you. <g>

Yeah, that cured me, of hauling a big ass bike.

The little 600Shadow was EZ, I didnt even need a ramp, I jumped it up
    and onto the trailer. heh-heh
