rain tires

I'm thinking about getting a set of the very nice rain tires made by Avon.
Does anyone have experiece with how they (or another rain tire) are when
    it's dry?
It would be too bad if their dry grip was way below a regular tire, or if
they wear incredibly fast when it's dry.
    Thanks.

They wear incredibly fast. The Avons are great for supermoto and light
bikes, but if you put 'em on a normal(ish) sport bike they'll ball up
and make you look heroic- for about 50 miles. Then they'll get greasy
    and scary.

From racing experience, real rains are amazing. You can drag your knee
on a wet track, but if it dries up you start looking for puddles to
run through to cool off your poor abused tires...

Shoot! That's too bad. Thanks for the answer. I'll have to rethink this.
