Let me guess this be a "coming to a country near you" soon legislation!

About the same time as the no points for speeding comes into force
thereby ensuring a steadier inflow of revenue?

    Ooo, I would think so...
The reasoning behind this was that "the effectiveness of the speed-traps
    was diminished".
This obviously means that they weren't getting the revenue they had
counted on and had to do something about it.

    What the ******?

So, in other words, people slowed down at the trap-site, which was
*obviously* sited in an accident blackspot, and that was unacceptable...

Don't be misled by Amsterdam. Holland isn't that liberal a country.

.... but surely the effectiveness of a speed trap is to make users drive
within the speed limits and if detection radar achieves that then the
speed traps/detectors have achieved the goal .

So this can only be a tacit admission that they ARE revenue devices
    then!

Well, I would think they meant that drivers with detectors are slowing
down just for the radars and then speeding up immediately afterwards. To
me it just sounds like people are now driving slower generally, they're
not making the money they thought they would and they have to do something
    about it.
