the "Hedge Fund" "Interview" I went too this afternoon was hilarious -
they wanted me to "work" for them, but this would have involved me
paying them for some training, then a monthly fee to use their FOREX
software, and a cut of the "guaranteed" profits.

    That's another pointlessly ironed shirt.

So did you do the polite "don't call me, I'll call you" bit, or did you
just laugh in their face, call them a bunch o' cunts and walk out?
    <auvache mode>
    Keeps the wimmin busy though.

the former. I remain, despite being technical unemployed, a
    professional ;-)
hah - I think maybe I posted this already, but doing a bit of
housework the other day, I was sorting out a load of clothes to go in
the washing machine - I found a pair of #1 son's jeans in a pile in
the corner of the office room, and reckoned they could do with a wash
    - I checked the "care" instructions - which had me in stitches - all
it said was "Care Instructions: give 'em to your woman - that's what
    she's for".

Because most of the people you meet (well *I* meet) will, at some point
mention that they've "put something on FookBook that you're (I'm) interested
in, but you need to log on to see it. It's not easy logging on if you've not
    got an account.

So.. you (I) either don't get an account - which eventually grows in use -
or you bumble along in ignorant bliss.

Obviously, ignorant bliss works for some.

Why anyone would want to hook up with their childhood, is beyond me, but I'm
sure there are a few people who use both systems who don't only use them for
    that.
Or they're desperate beyond belief and want to fook the crap out of you.

Details passed to the bloke who was supposed to get back to me today. I'm
still fucking waiting. Mind ewe, I seem to do a fucking lot of that lately,
what with people supposed to be arriving at certain times, but who don't.

It's been 24 hours since I asked if he can do the decals, and heard nothing
back, so he'll have another E-mail tonight and another call on the blower
    tomorrow.

I've done some research and I reckon you've been downloading paedophile
mugshots and using them for fake profiles.

I mean, you are John Bilberg, Roger Collier and "Molly Fletcher", right?

I use both, for pretty much the same reason. I use them to keep in
touch with people I would normally find it very difficult to, or where
I don't so much want to have a specific conversation with them but I'd
like to keep up with what they're up to.

I use both because I maintain a separation between work and private
    life.

Probably dreamed up by some female marketing exec who had just about had
enough of her selfish man. Nobody realised she was being sarcastic.

That's true. I tend to ask if they can put (usually) the photos where
normal people can access them. Mind, this has only happened 3 times.
Twice they had a flickr account anyway, and once they didn't bother, so I
didn't bother looking at the photos.
    Heh, you spotted that, eh?

although you're along the right lines, I suspect you're actually not

Hahaha. When I was doing an MBA at Strathclyde a bunch of similar shysters
came in and tried it on, offering "management positions". I already had a
new business on the blocks but noticing that it was too good to be true I
went along. Gathered info then complained to the 'School about them.
    Fucking prize wankers.

I'm intrigued by this FOREX thing however.

oh go on then then - it'll only cost you £2k for the training (if you
sign up on the day of the seminar, otherwise it's £6.5K) plus £80 a
month for the licence cost of their software plus whatever
spreadbetting/ETF agency fees you incur (they let you choose your
own!!!) plus they "guarantee" that their software can only allow you
to lose 1% of your overall investment on each trade.

So that'd be like, a month to lose all your money if the "magic
    software" doesn't work then...

As people seem to be drifting towards FB and the like, they're drifting away
from E-mails at the same time and for that reason, I've kept my FB account
alive. I've met one or two people through contacts I've got on FB that I
wouldn't have even thought about contacting otherwise and that's not been a
bad thing, but I can't do with searching for "old friends" (if I ever had
any) and certainly not to get my end away with somoene I probably bedded in
my yoof. Some memories are best left as memories IMO.
As every right minded person should.
