    Hi y'all

With the hot summer days upon us(!), not to mention the forthcoming TOG
tour, this may be of interest, and then again maybe not. I have been a
member of the RAC for many years now solely to cover my motorcycling
with regard to breakdown cover and any other services they provide. It
has just come to my attention that they no longer use AXA to provide
travel insurance but now use London and Edinburgh. L&E will not cover
motorcyclists travelling on a bike over 125cc. Is it me, or is it
incredible that a motoring organisation such as the RAC uses an insurer
that will not cover motorcyclist customers for travel insurance?

I have just checked, and my "free" insurance through having a
particular bank account is covered by AXA, and does indeed still cover
    motorcycle travel.

Hope this may be of interest/use etc.

    See some of you Friday.

    That is a bit mad.

I ended up getting travel insurance through Churchill of all people and
the T&C's appear to cover motorcycle travel (so long as a helmet is
worn etc) - was rather cheap.

Euro break down is through the AA which was a fair bit cheaper (for me)
than anyone else for reasons I'm not quite sure of.

Probably (hopefully) won't use either one.

I would rather spend the rest of my days languishing in some foreign
shithole hospital than give any money to Churchill. They should be
nuked for their incredibly annoying fucking adverts.

Cheapest car insurance by a country mile (with good customer service)
and also cheapest travel insurance :)

My view on Equity Red star is similar to yours on Churchill.

Which bike are you taking BTW as I just need to see if it will be
possible to keep up as I think that even if you end up getting lost
following you would be entertaining :)

As yet undecided. If it's pissing down it'll be the GTS. Otherwise it'll
    be the BlingMobile.

Both have GPS (technically the Blingmobile has two GPS units, with the
option of a third. The GTS has one with the option of a second).

  8. That's not very nice is it?

IME GPS units are no guarantee against getting lost. I cite the trip to
Mugello a few years ago..... and indeed every other bike trip I've been
on. Those with GPS seem to get lost more often thatn those without.

I'll follow someone else who knows where they're going, or use the
scrap of map/paper that usually gets scrunched up/wet/illegible in my
    tank bag map holder thingy.

    No, I'll be fine.

I'll ignore them all and use a map.

Er - not being nice wasn't the intention - I supppose it can be
interpreted that way, but it wasn't the intention.

That may be so, but I wager most people think of the RAC as the Royal
Automobile club and as such is thought of primarily as a motoring
organisation offering services to motorists. Thus they will be
attracting motorists including motorcyclists to pay for membership of
their organisation. My grouse is that they then do not offer discounted
    travel insurance to motorcyclists.

Lloyds TSB, Platinum account. Maybe better accounts around but I have
had this account number since opening my first account in 1978. The
customer loyalty line has been used more than once to get some
action/refund of, what I consider, unreasonably incurred charges .

£10 for my platinum account. Chuck in the AA cover, mobile phone
insurance and general kowtowing from account manager monkeys, and it's
worth every penny. They charged me for going over an OD limit once years
ago, then promptly apologised and put the limit up "so it won't happen
again." My limit's something like £4.5k now, so no chance of a repeat
    performance.

I had an Edvard Munch moment the other day, when I sort of "woke up"
and realised that a full 50% of the people who work for me are French.

I really don't know how the **** that happened.
