Beautifully crafted bikes with top quality parts.
The engines always seem like utter pants though.

Just by the way of chat to Spete who has made the odd disasterous bike
    purchase in the past.

Still an R1150 is a huge improvement over the VTR

  3. Wow. Wonder what caused that? Rich running would tend to make the thing
run cooler, unless (as Hog also intimated) it's running so fucking rich
that it's washing the oil off the cylinder walls. But that would make it
seize or wear out the pistons....
That would probably **** something up, yes :)

I still wouldn't say no to a GS, thobut.

More than most. Tell us about the 1250?

Never ridden one and I have no interest in anything post 1993. Well
except Steve Parry's modern day pocket battle ship.

Tried the 1100's and 1150's including the Boxer Cup style, I really
wanted to like the latter, but after Ducati's and Gixxers I realised how
utterly shite they were. And they break down, lots. I think Loz quoted
a recovery driver recently as telling him modern BMW's keep him in
    business.

They do seem to be getting worse and worse. Some models have problems
    even existing.

First guess? Fuckwit disconnected the lambda sensor because "you only
need it when you've got a cat" or similar bollix. EFI isn't that
complicated but it's scary what sort of shit people will believe if
enough Internet egg spurts yakk on about it.

Really? Mine's a bit rough at low revs - slightly juddery and rattles
the chain if I open it up in too hagh a gear but other than that it's
great. Huge gobs of torque. I'll admit that my old TLR was smoother
and much more tractable at low revs but it didn't have the mid-range
    torque of the Aprilia.

Seems I misremembered, the post is from 2004. The bike did have a Y piece
& Remus can fitted but it seems the diagnosis was an air leak on the inlet.

in the same thread, "the mechanic" says, bikes with after market exhausts will
run rich, fucking the exhaust valves if unaddressed.
