  1. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Ace
    A friend who is a translator tells the (almost certainly apocryphal)
    story of a German making a speech in the European Parliament. At a
    certain point the English simultaneous translation stopped. Much
    earpiece-tapping ensued, with the British delegates becoming
    increasingly concerned as the German droned on. Finally, a strangled
    voice was heard through the earphones:

    "The VERB man! Get to the VERB!"

    Having watched the interpreters in action here[1], it's something that I
    have wondered about.

    It must be a nightmare that you know the when, the where, the why, the
    who and with whom but you don't WTF actually happened until the very
    last word.

    [1]Only French-English and vice versa, admittedly.
