So, with the bike back on the road, I feel like giving it a treat to
make up for leaving it parked up down the side of my house for a couple
of months, and a new exhaust seems as good a present to buy it as any.

I've had my eye on a Quill T3 for some time, as they're a bit fruitier
but still road-legal (not that my insurer seems to give a monkeys what
I do) but was wondering if anyone has any comments on 'em, or has a
better suggestion (the bank balance won't quite stretch to a full
    akrapovic system just yet!)

Had one on the SV. Look good (well made), sound nice, and whilst not a huge
performance booster, did smooth the power curve off a bit (SV's have a wee
    notch at about 6k IIRC).

    I like 'em

A few more posts along those lines and I'll be decided, I reckon.

    So the next question.

Dark green [1] '99 Bandit 12, so stainless, carbon or titanium?
I'm leaning towards carbon or titanium, but they're the same
price and I can't decide which would look better.

Naturally I won't be getting one with wanky colour treatments.

    What do other readers think?

[1] God's own colour, give or take lime green.

I've always gone for stainless as it's easier to polish scratches out.

I had a carbon one on the Gixer, and a titanium one on the CBR[1]. The
Titanium one's nice, but understated. The carbon one seemed to fit well
with the whole gixer pikey-chic thing, though.
    Coloured titanium is for mincers.

[1] which coincidentally lives just up the road from the office. The can
still looks like it's in top nick

Got them on my Firestorm. Feels quicker and according to the power curves
on the website (http://www.jbracing.co.uk/) it certainly should be. No
horrible flat spots either like the cheapo race cans I had on before them.
As others have said, well made too

    In short, recommended.

They seem cheap (164 quid from M&P for a carbon round can) but I'm
not too keen on getting something _*LOUD*_, just something throaty.

If the dyno run at Heinz Gherkin was anything to go by, it's far from
quiet on the stock can anyway ;)

Could get one as a spare, I suppose. It's pocket money compared to the
Quill. Blue Flame cans seem to be about the same price as Scorpions...

Blue Flame have a road legal can, complete with official stamp, that comes
with a restrictor plug and a tool you can use to remove it, which spices
things up on the noise and power front ...

Just don't get in the car with Bear (not that there'll be any room by
    the sound of things).

You and Bear could sit together and share a romantic KFC. It'd be
    lovely.
