Quietest Helmet

  1. Anyone got any recommendations?

Got an Arai Quantum and that seems noisy.

    Do you use ear plugs?

I agree with Muck: ear plugs.

I have a selection of Corded Rockets (which last for ages) and use
    Multi Max on longer journeys.

The number of times you crash, I am surprised you've done a long
    journey :)

I only use disposable ones for longer journeys. I find the corded
rockets are fine for weeks and even months for my daily commute
to/from work if I rinse them off once in a while.

**** that. Try an ipod or similar.

Of course it'll mean that 20 years on you have hearing problems but view
that as an opportunity to ignore stuff you don't want to hear.

Depends on the shape and size of your head. What works for one person
    won't always work for another.

I've had lots of of different makes over the years. Currently using a
KBC which isn't expensive but is better, for me, than my Arai.

Grassy Knollington scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Earplugs first, anything after that is likely to get very expensive as
you won't be able to test ride a helmet like you can in other countries.

You'll also find that what works on one bike doesn't work that well on
another one due to differences in screen height, fairing and all that.

The quietest helmet I found for my bonce (Lozzo, look away) is the BMW
Sport Integral, followed by the Schuberth S1. Both, incidentally,
manufactured by Schuberth but very different helmets. They're not
without faults and both are not exactly cheap either. But for me, they
    work.

Oh, and I *still* have to wear earplugs.

wessie scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Sir wants a Tobinator to turn that into an adjustable screen then.

Actually I find that the seat height makes a big difference on my GS as
well. With the lower seat on both my helmets are perfectly quiet, with
the high seat on, only the BMW helmet...
Better yet, make your first order the "trial assortment" and work out
which one works best for you.

Depends a bit on the helmet as well I feel. When pointed at the right
angle to the wind my Caberg with the drop down inner dark visor that
makes me looks so cool it is untrue is quite aerodynamic. It does quite
well in the sit up and beg positions that you get with tourers and
scoots (spit) and is no quieter when lying flat trying to hide behind
the tank bag pretending I am Rossi.

Dunno. What my father could or could not do is something my mother
rarely talks about. Although my grandmother reckons he was good for one
thing but she never says what it is except that he was a part of the
stealth research programme cos he was always disappearing, especially on
    a Friday night.
