Hi, If you've a quiet helmet - can you post which one? Cheers.
Yeah, my X-Vent was very quite too, but I only really noticed it when I switched to my current AGV V-Flyer. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1 BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, TEAR#3 (and KotL), DS#5, COSOC#9, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
Roof Diversion is the quietest I've had yet Mike. -- '02 GSF1200 in silver www.rivingtonbarn.com (Rivvy website) http://www.rivingtonbarn.com/phpbb/portal.php (Forum) Email address spamtrapped. Remove "your clothes" to reply.
My HJC (AC-10) is not bad at all IME, but then it's my first helmet so I cannot compare it to any others. I haven't ever felt the need to wear earplugs though. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My Bike 2000 Honda CB500 M'boy's Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X (Heavily fortified) BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26
A bad decision. Earplugs protect you from high-frequency noise which by definition you don't hear. If you don't wear plugs you *will* begin to lose high- frequency hearing, which means "th" and "s" sounds will get very fuzzy. And once lost, they are *gone*, you can't get them back again. We should *all* wear ear plugs. -- Dave Remove my gerbil for email replies. Bike's are bosh, PC's are pointless, and the 1990's are nuts! Bikes are great, PCs are super, and the 1990s are the time to be! Save the apostrophe! Get 'em right! If in doubt, leave 'em out!!

I'm a relatively recent convert to earplugs. It's amazing the amount of the high-pitched whistle they cut out. So it makes things more comfortable. But you can still hear all the important stuff. They make you more comfortable with going faster, too - dunno why. One of the mags included earplugs in a list of cheap performance enhancements. Obviously, I don't bother if I'm nipping to the shops, but for anything over, say, twenty miles, I'd shove them in. Personally, I can't be arsed with all the rolling and fucking about - though those ones apparently stop more noise. I use "Quiet" earplugs, which have a little bit of matchstick inside to shove them into your lughole. A half-second per side, it takes to put them in. They're about a quid a go if you buy them from a bike shop. Get them in bulk from here: http://www.safetysupplies.co.uk/trolleyed/4/index.htm The ones I use are fifth in the list.
I got my uncorded max ear plugs from there as well and they get a recommendation from me too. Mine are the roll type ones and I honestly find them no hassle at all. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1 BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, TEAR#3 (and KotL), DS#5, COSOC#9, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
I can't remember what make mine are - it's been a while since I bought them. They've been in use for at least a couple of months, and may have been through the wash once or twice.
