Quidco a bit pointless now?

Been doing the car insurance renewal thing this morning. I did quotes
through Quidco for the top few payers, then repeated them with the same
companies direct (in a different browser). The Quidco quotes were all
significantly higher, & more than covered the cash back amounts. So I
won't be bothering with Quidco for insurance in the future.

The other annoying thing is an increasing number of insurers don't
include 3rd party cover on other cars anymore, even on comprehensive
policies. But they don't mention this anywhere when doing a quote, so
you have to call them to ask. Something to watch out for folks.

It seems to vary. I got a new policy with Swinton this time - cashback
directly and also through Quidco (that's yet to materialise however -
can't query it for 90 days). Even before the Quidco it was still the
    lowest price I could find.

The same thing happens with those comparison sites too though - I use
them to get an idea, then check with a direct quote as well.

Quidco's still great for lots of other things.

Swinton are a funny bunch. They were always the cheapest on the
Porsche, but when I sold that & bought the Jeep, they became one of the
most expensive. Tis a black art this insurance business & no mistake.

insured the house through Quidco - £50 back from the AA

As SW says, useful for other stuff too - Accor hotels pay 8% on the mid-
price hotels like Mercure, which when combined with Accor's 50% off deal
makes for a cheap stay in Reims next month.

My Churchill policy gives me cover on other cars, which is handy.

I've never had a car policy that didn't, but the three cheapest on the
    meerkat this morning didn't.

Auntie Carol's cage cover of this year does but it does not cover travel
outwith dear old Blighty. One has to arrange it in the old fashioned way.

It has to cover you in the EU at minimum levels. What CN are asking you
to do is to let them know what days you will be overseas so that *full*
cover can be extended. They might charge for this extension or provide
it for a limited number of days.

Yes I agree with what you are saying. Basic 3rd party. To extend the Comp
Cover you have to notify them.

That includes the RoI, which is bizarre and archaic

  12. Ah. I'd sometimes thought of a visit there, but I won't bother now.

If only: a welfare system, respect for poets and intellectuals,
property rights for women, and the duties of a ruler:

Sunday is for drinking ale, Monday is for judging, Tuesday is for
playing fidchell, Wednesday is for watching hounds hunt, Thursday is
for sexual union, Friday is for racing horses, and Saturday is for
judging (a different word from Monday, but the distinction is
    unclear)

    Nice.

    <thinks>

You call that a welfare system....

Do you maintain your Oirish passport or did you opt for a Red one

I was thinking of the other bits of the Brehon Laws.
I've only ever had an Irish passport although I think I could have a
    UK one.

I don't know what fidchell is. Is it OK of I do the drinking of ale on
Monday *and* Tuesday, and pass on the fidchell? Oh, and I'm not much
into watching hounds hunt, so let's say drinking of ale on Monday
through to Wednesday, eh? Everything else is good.

Indeed you can, not that you would want to.

HMR&C under Nu Labour sneaked a law through in March making it very hard to
leave R&C behind when you leave the UK. If you still have a child at school,
boarding or with an ex, even if you keep a UK mobile phone FFS, you are
domiciled and they want tax on global income. Despite being at the other
side of the world. Well I can't bump my boy off yet so I'm dealing with it.
A new Dublin address, trading up to a nice Paddy Passport and proper
    Oirishness.

The irony meter is completely broken so dont say a word.......... Well, you
can call me a turning worm if you like, the cap fits beautifully

I can, but I think it's only because of UK birth to a UK subject.
    You're not the first.
