And me. In the bad old days I used to find a somewhat pinkish deposit
on the spark plug centre electrode isolator and sometimes on the side
electrode outside. According to sources I believed at the time that was
supposed to be something with lead (an oxide probably). The bad thing
that it was supposed to cause was to short out the plug in situations
with a rich and badly atomised fuel mixture. Possibly by imagination I
got the impression when leaded fuel was phased out that my old BMW
bike and Volvo Amazon car hesitated a bit less when the throttle was
opened a lot (note the absence of the word acceleration).

  2. Hm. Fairy nuff. Lead oxide is red.......

And there's a lot on google.

OK, my bad. I've still never known it happen, mind.

....and me, too. They sold little plug-cleaning gadgets in Canadian Tire
that you plugged into the lighter socket, and they blasted a carborundum
sand onto any plug tip that you stuck into them. Now, this was in the
late seventies or so, IIRC, and I guess that could seem like a long time
    ago, to some.

Although your handle, 'The Older Gentleman', seems to suggest the wisdom
of age, the loud and obnoxious way you responded to the OP, and the
spectacular way you continued to be wrong until you finally checked on
Google, suggests to me that I have meat in my freezer older than you.
Your limited apology suggests that its I.Q. may be higher, but I'll
withhold judgement for a few posts.

  4. Can't read threads properly, can you? If you can, then I did *not*
respond to the OP. Go back and check, and then admit, as I did, that you
    were wrong.

    Good.

I await your next post with interest.

It's just a literary style that TOG uses sometimes, nothing to worry
about. But you are partly right, he is really a young lad (a year younger
    than
    me IIRC).

Ahh, that explains it. Oh, those carefree days...wait, they sucked! :)

Yeah, I went back and checked--it was opietaylor69, the first responder
to the OP. How do you put it--my bad?

Just to keep it straight: Opie tried to help the OP, and then you wanted
to know "what the *hell* he was on about" and then you doubted anyone
had sandblasted plugs since the 1930s, then you dissed Opie for his
webtv, which was for morons, but you're sorry about that...yeah, I think
    I have it straight. You're a boor.
I checked my freezer, and the meat says you get half a point for
redirecting to a thread niggle, but you lost on your literary style, so
please make that one-hand-clapping sound that comes with being plonked.

No, why do you say that?

  9. Fascinating.

I strongly believe that if you screw up on Usenet, that you should say
so. Point made, point taken, and everyone moves on.

You, on the other hand, seem to believe that one should keep on prodding
after someone's 'fessed up, and carry on with the insults. An
interesting approach in one who is also new to this group.

I think my call is the better one.
