I was watching some book programme on BBC4 last night and they were focusing
on the work of Jasper Fforde. Some of his ideas sound quite interesting,
has anyone here read any of his stuff? Is it worth reading?

it's OK. Not brilliant, but very "clever".

Well I see that Amazon are doing the first two books in the Thursday Next
series for 11 quid, so I suppose it would be rude not to.

I really enjoyed the first two in the Thursday Next series - the first
one particularly. I gave up on the latest, though; I was bored.

I was waiting for it to come down in price - but I'm happy to take your
opinion as gospel and not bother with it at all.

the first one is the best of the two.

Oh, and if you haven't read "Jane Eyre"[0], you'll not get a lot of the
    jokes.

Oh, and if you /have/ read "Wide Sargasso Sea"[0], you might experience
some cognitive dissonance whilst reading "The Eyre Affair".

[0] if you have read the former of these two books, I can highly
    recommend the latter.

Well I've got the first two on order, so they should be with me by the time
I've finished Douglas Coupland's "Eleanor Rigby" and whizzed through
    Garland's "Coma".

I hope they are, at least, or else I'll have to read "God Knows".

I'm reading "The Eyre Affair" ATM and it doesn't seem to be a problem that
I haven't read the previous books.

Well there is that. What I meant is that it's still an enjoyable read
without being made to feel like a TC for not having read the previous
books. Of course I'm sure I'd get more out of it if I had.
