Question for Cane

Yeah I know you are only on the marketing side but you must know something
about the product.

Want to make custom high screen for the Gixxer.
Process years ago was make up template in cardboard, lay on plastic sheet,
cut, fasten roughly in place and refine shape/de-stress with hot air gun.

What would be the best non-brittle clear plastic material to use for this?
something around 4mm thick I should guess. IIRC we used something quite like
Bob heath visor material.

If your company was to be sent the template could you cut a few blanks out
for appropriate amounts of beer tokens? if it works out I'll distribute to
any Gixxer owners hereabouts who also want. The standard screen is way too
low.

But it doesn't exist yet! and because it's being done in such a simple way
it has to be kinda 2D. Making it 3D isn't something one could easily do in
the domestic garage? Last time we did a 2D type for an Exup it was easy
enough except for the cutting of the plastic around the former.

Your place has changed a lot in the past 6 months then.

 

I am much obliged, there are probably three or four bods on the NG who could
do with a higher GSXR screen. I'm getting carried away now wondering how to
produce a 3D screen, best I can think of so far is a surform and a block of
high density polystyrene?

 

I've just bought two. I'm selling the black opaque one on ebay.

 

I have a double bubble, still about 6 inches too low for sustained Eire
forays.

 

I think he was implying something higher than a duoble-bubble.

Why? I mean, why did you get two in the first place, and why junk the
Opaque one?

 

Well I thought I was buying a black one as in a "black visor" black, not
opaque black. It looks pretty good but isn't much use when tucked under it
hammering down a track straight. Stupidely I used it instead of sending it
back for replacment.

 

As I said when you were over here, I deliberately got the opaque one,
on the basis that I _never_ look through the screen anyway. My height
and bad neck wouldn't allow me to get down that low for more than a
few seconds at a time, plus I find the d-b gives ample wind protection
even with my eyes above the screen level.

 

I should have paid more attention.
