    hi all

im thinking of getting a bike
    problem is, im 6'10....

at all the bikes ive seen the pegs look so close to the seat and i would
have no chance so my question is which are the larger bikes that will fit a
tall person and be allowed to be driven by a learner/p plater - however bike
    licences work?

    thanks

I was reading a road test on the Hyosung Comet yesterday (at bikepoint i
think) and it mentioned that it would be an excellent bike for a tall
learner. It had something to do with the frame being originally designed to
take a 600 engine as well as the 250 engine, but then they desided to use a
    different frame for the 600.

You're probably almost tall enough for a Moto Guzzi Quota 1000.

    (what were they thinking?)

    Tall? That's more like a midget! ;)
I'm 6'21 and have no problem using my CBR250RR. Mind you I'm pretty flexible
from karate in my growing up years and regular gym/stretching maintenance
since then. Current weight is about 88kg - reasonably lean but a few kilos
of beer still hanging around since X-mas... :(

How comfortable you as a reasonably tall person are on a "smaller" bike
could well be dictated by fitness level and whether you're used to
stretching. (Anyone else got an opinion on that?)

I doubt they qualify as a learner's mount.
Good question. The 1100 looked even taller.

Uh... I'm not used to this imperial stuff. 1.895 metres, I suppose that
    means 6"21 ?

    How do the '"s work?

    Ta :)

Aah, you hit your head on doorframes shorter than 6 foot 3 inches.

Travelling back from Queensland one time and there was one of the NBA
teams hitching a ride back in cattle class playing human origami.

I'm 6'2" ad find a number of smaller bikes tolerable on short runs, and
hell on long runs. The biggest problem I have is changing down gears while in
    a highly compressed squat.

  11. If you work in feet, the next two digits are inches, so 6.21 feet is 6
    feet plus 0.21*12 = 2.52

So you are 6'2" (yeah plus .52 so I guess 6'3")

I'm intrigued at the accuracy to 3 decimal places though :) Sure that
last hair didn't flatten out and you are really 1.896m?

    Cheers

  12. I had an old Honda CJ360 that suited me fine. But I'm just a short arse
    6"3".

But you may find a better fit buy getting your bike seat refoamed and
recovered and made an extra 50mm higher. I did this myself to a GSXR and it
    made a noticeable difference.

But I in my experience I found older bikes to have more leg room.

    Aha, cool. 1 feet = 0.3048 metres, 1 inch = 2.54 centimetres
    What's the .52 thing?

    6'2" sounds about right.
Maybe. :) I'm just oh so close to being in the 1.90s. I guess I'm taking it
    personal... :(

  14. Well 6.21 feet.
    0.21 times 12 (inches) is 2.52 inches.

So you are 6 feet plus 2 inches plus 0.52 inches. Rounding off means
    6'3"
    Have an extra inch :)

    Cheers

Ahhh... You see, that's just me trying to apply a sensible system to the
    imperial one.

But I understand it better now, many thanks :)

  18. What's the matter Dwarf, feet don't touch the ground when riding a
    Virago 250 ? :)

For the metric challanged, 1.892M = 6" 2.5" not even tall enough to play
    professional basket ball :(
