that's how I interpreted it, and wikipedia is pretty reliable for this sort
    of information.

If you dig deeper, the Mondeo platform was tried in the US and Australia
where it flopped. Complex, and interesting stuff, the socio-economics of
    vehicle production.

I've never ridden (driven?) a combination, but surely a LH chair is
more liable to swerve right into oncoming traffig in a panic brake
    situation.

You're right but I found that fitting a damper made it more
predictable and there's nothing to stop the rider from turning into
the chair as they slam the anchors on.

Obviously /some/ bits are different between left & right hand drive,
but they're not going to move things like steering column stalks to
t'other side of the column are they. Well not unless they have to on a
particular model because a left-mounted stalk on a RHD car would
interfere with something else when the column's moved to the left side.
Which is unlikely as they'd design it so they didn't need to.

That does look vaguely familiar but the interior was a kind of drab
green, like the rest of the car IIRC.

I do. And just what does that have to do with changing gear?

  10. A good part of it is the ability to listen and learn. There's a
couple of people who do track days with the PCA who just can't get any
faster - because they won't accept that the instructor may have an
    idea worth trying.

But, a competitive nature helps too.

  11. I always perceived it to be the absolute opposite. When I commuted
daily to central london, no-one on my commute waved to each other -
and rightly so. So I'd go out for a recreational ride on a sunny
summer sunday, and find all these weekend warrior wankers waving like
crazy. I ignored the soppy cunts.

Changing gear would classically regarded as either a maneuver, or part
    of one.

I think technically you *could* change gear without changing vector.
Steering straight, just change revs to keep speed consistent.

Yes, there would be a slight change of vector as you disengage drive,
and you're unlikely to get the revs so spot on that you hit exactly the
same speed, but it could, in theory, be done I feel.
