A 72 character line length would be reasonable - the very next time
you have an account to use.

No thanks! Don't like them, but they're getting better. The
only one I like the look of is the 749 Dark, but it just ain't
    got enough bling on it.

Besides, I'm waiting for my Desmosedici RR ... ;-)

Thanks very much for the info. I want to keep the bike but I probably need the money more!

No worries, but please try and post your reply at
the bottom (like this one) as it makes things much
    easier to read in UKRM.

As for the 2005 999S, that looks like a corker of
a bike for not much more cash...

    Ditto.

How much is "not much cash"?

    The 2005 999S is £13995 otr.

It's basically this year's 999R without the ti conrods
and carbon fairings but it does have the Ohlins all
round and the radial Brembos to match, along with the
999R swingarm and red frame with black subframe and
    the same bhp.

Mmmm. I like it, and it's certainly a gorgeous bike.

A gixxer thou is better value for money though, and probably what I'd
    buy with my own cash.

It's got better suspension than mine for a start.

    Arguably it looks better.

And it does the same job, ie look good in my garage.

Ah, now I don't want one.

On principle I don't think I'd ever pay more than ten grand for a new
bike. Especially when the Jap litre bikes come in under 9 new.

I used to tell myself that I'd never pay more than ten grand for a
    car.

However, the new issue of Classic Car magazine got to me yesterday,
and has a feature on "16 best classics to buy and own". To be fair,
most of them are under 10K, but then they go and throw in an Aston
    Martin DB4/5/6 at the end. 40K - 120K. Cunts...

    Depends on your perspective...

A guy in the DSC has just bought a ZX10R as a track tool, but
he's already had to replace fork (with Ohlins), brakes (radials
to match the forks and radial m/c), shock (Ohlins), add a
steering dampener (Ohlins again) lightweight wheels (Marchesini),
add a slipper clutch (STM), Power Commander, race exhaust and
    then some trackday fairings.

Yes, he's a serious guy - he's just retired his 996R from track,
hence the ZX10R - but look at the cost of all the above toys to
get it upto the same spec as the 05 999S!

Suddenly the cheap Japanese option doesn't seem so cheap. Sure
you're getting a great bike to start with, but it's made to a
cost and uses cheaper components - and that's why it's cheap.
