Is there a standard replacement for the Yamaha bulbs (P/N
42X-83517-00-00), something like an automotive 194 or 168 bulb?

    Thanks Larry

Has anybody tried LEDs on an older bike? Good, bad, ugly?

    Thanks,

    LEDs for which lights exactly?

I am not aware of bespoke LED replacements for indicator or tail/brake
light housings for any bikes, though I have not looked very hard.

There are LED "bulb" replacements (a matrix of LEDs with a standard lamp
socket on the back) available, but I haven't tried them (and have heard
    decidedly mixed reviews).

I also know that people have wired up custom solutions on various bikes,
either as accessory/supplementary lighting or as replacements. As custom
installations, they are by definition not standard.

'indiana' is a 'nolnn' and 'hoosier' is a 'solkk'. Indiana doesn't solkk.

I got an array of LEDs to replace the dim and power-hungry bulb on the
rear of my Triumph TR6R and I'm pretty pleased. It's bright and uses
WAY less power than the original; that's a GOOD thing on a motorcycle
    that has a marginal electrical system . . . .

  6. I swapped a complete tail light assembly for a 52 LED truck light.
I like the better visibility and not having to worry about bulb
failures. I got motivated right after almost getting rear ended when
my tail light bulb burned out.

The light I used is about 4" x 6", costs about $25 on eBay
and is commonly used on delivery trucks.

To mount it on the bike, I fabricated a bracket to replace the
tail light and license plate holder. The tail light pops into
a rubber grommet that in turn pops into a rectangular hole
    in the bracket I made.
