MCN tested rain suits earlier this year. Does anybody remember the
    results, which one won etc.?

I wouldn't take any MCN test result as being a guide to what is any
good. Just look at the amount of Frank Thomas gear that gets praised,
when everyone else who rides a bike thinks it's pure unadulterated
    shite.

Actually, I don't. My FT winter jacket is very good and has been for 3 years
now. Not saying it's the best but it isn't as bad as the myth would suggest.

OOo, dunno, got me a FT over suit last year (shitty/rossi sell off) and it
is the bestest one I have ever had. Lots of zips and velcro. No damp gets
    in this one.

I have had some shite ones thoough

Agreed, my FT winter jacket has only leaked once and that was in really
    heavy rain at high speed.

No he was just lucky to get a set of gear that didn't leak the first
year or come apart the second.

I think this must be a modern thing with FT gear because I own a pair of
their boots that are older than my kids and despite many tens of k
commuting they are still in surprisingly good nick.

If they stopped using zips made of chocolate it would help.

    I don't know.

But, if I were looking for a rain suit and one was made by Bering that
was reasonably priced, based on my experience with their gloves and
    jacket, I'd get that.

A pair of my leather trousers are FT and have been and still are pretty
good in the nearly 14 years I've had them. And they were S/H.

My FT 1pc leathers are tatty now and have a burst seam, but they're old
(4 years?) and have been in two spills with little/no TLC. They cost
less than half the price of the MJKs so I'm happy with the price and
    performance.

I'm chuffed with my Motoline Macaco oversuit. I've ridden through
Manchester's wettest, and across the M62 summit in some torrid
conditions and so long as it's done up right it's not leaked. Once I
didn't do the zip up properly and it got slightly damp inside.

The woman's FT waterproof trousers have never leaked..... mostly because
they've never been used, but they've never failed.

I bought a pair of FT boots in the Riossi sell-off for a shade under
£100. I thought they'd be good for work and used 'em for that.

The Frank Thomas logo on the sole is stuck on and the letters came off
within a week and made my walk more pigeon toed than it is already and
on current performance I reckon they've got about three months left
before the toe wears through into a hole (because the lettering came
    off)
