    Well obviously we wish him well in that endeavour but yersh, what is the
    correct name for those big merry go rounds.

    That works but I thought I had heard something German.
    The one in question does incorporate a large organ so I'm sure he will want
    to visit.

    I drink quit a bit of white wine now. This week I have consumed a bottle of
    Fino sherry and a bottle of Orvieto. There's a bottle of Chablis in the
    fridge and the 5[1] bottles of wine delivered with my groceries by
    Sainsburys yesterday included a bottle of cava.

    [1] supposed to be 6 to get the extra 5% off but they repleced a bottle of
    house claret with a bottle of mulled red, which was sent back as I hate the
    stuff.

    not least, presumably, because it will be stone-cold by the time you
    drink it.

    Try a nice well chilled Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Bliss.

    I prefer the Bordeaux variety of sauvignon blanc, which has been married
    with a little semillon...

    That's very nice two, I'll drink both, just not together in the same glass.

    Well, not for the first 8 glasses...

    AC Entre Deux Mers throws up some very good, relatively inexpensive, ones.
    Lidl do one for about £4, or 2 euros in the Saint-Louis branch.

    Then I saw this:

    Oh, I didn't know we had a branch in St. Louis.

    <Googles>

    Well, so there is. Must pop in tomorrow - some of our sub 2 euro
    bottles are getting a bit on the low side. And there's always space
    for another case or two of the Tarragona Gran Reserva at €3.99 a
    bottle. Reviewed here (at £4.49 in the UK), it's damned good. Good
    enough to serve to guests as a good wine, IYSWIM.

    Glad to be of service. I was doing some research on lidl.fr to see where
    your nearest branches are. Altkirch would be the one to call into to get
    essential supplies in September, assuming I approach from the Saint-
    Maurice-sur-Moselle direction.

    Never heard of St M s M, but yeah, Altkirch is our 'normal' one, at
    least it was until now.

    @4ax.com:

    this Canti Merlot Sangiovese made by Fratelli-Martini in Sicily is quite
    pleasant, especially as it's in the 3 for £12 offer at Sainsburys. An
    Industrial "super Tuscan" sort of thing.
