    PS.........
I have read a few reports of a car tyre side wall flexing, so OK on a bike.
    I see NO flexing.

    very interesting to see it.
from the sound of it, they didnt use a harley based chopper :)

it was common practise on 80s choppers when you wanted a wide rear
tire, and some chopper riders still use them...
in fact, one of my clubmates is buldling a chop with a 225/50-15 car
    tire at the moment.

Sounds like a Goldwing, but, I only see 1 exhaust.

I have been tempted to use a car tyre (they can last 20-30,000 miles).
After watching the video I will never use a car tyre.

they used them on choppers cause nobody made biketires wider than 150.
and nowadays they use them to create a retro-look to the 80s

its all bout form, not bout function really... most of those choppers
wont do 20000 miles during their whole life.

    No, really?

"An upside down video of a 195/55/16 car tire mounted on a gl1800a Honda
    Goldwing ..." posted by "goldwingnut"

    What gave it away?
I would imagine you would have problems with the MOT man, the plod, the
insurance company etc. Plus it would make your bike handle like squirty
    poo.

    Oh, did'nt see that.
    Good guess however.

Never knock it until you have tried it.
There are many (fucking loads) of people who claim to have no problem with a
car tyre (try a search for 'Car tyre - dark side')

No problem at all with the right sort of car tyre on a motorcycle - so
long as it also has a sidecar.

From the sound of it, they didn't go above 20mph either.
    But a chopper isn't a motorcycle is it. It's a ..... THING.
It'[ll be good round bends then.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    Oh bugger.
    And bugger again.

I tried it years ago when normal bike tyres were nothing less than narropw
car tyres. Even then, they handled like snotty shit.
    Shock, horror.

(try a search for 'Car tyre - dark side')

    You noticed that bit then?
