Puncture Repair

I'm Cursed. My CBR that tried to kill me in December felt decidedly
odd when I got it out of the garage last night - steering eratically -
so I nursed it to the petrol station at the bottom of my hill and
checked the front tyre pressure. Supposed to be 36psi - was 10psi.
    Jeeeez. Didn't look that underinflated.

So found a large tack sticking out of the tyre - prized it out -
hissssss - stuffed it back in again. Balls.

In the garage they sold a 6 quid SOS Tyre Repair aerosol. After much
faffing about with the brake discs making manoeuvering the aerosol and
garage inflator hose a nightmare, and foam flying everywhere turning
the scene into a tragic comedy snowstorm, I wrestled the tyre back up
    to pressure and got home.

Testing the pressure again today, it seems the repair has held. But
does anyone have any experience of using this foam stuff? How long
will the repair last, and has my use of this foam stuff meant that my
tyre shop won't be able to do a proper repair later?

They're usually a get you home / to a tyre shop device. Read whatever
it says on the stuff. I've tried and had no luck with the foam stuff
in the past, however, the plugs that can be inserted from outside work
well enough. Tyre places usually whinge about foam because it has to
be cleaned out before replacement / proper repair.

It may last ages, or it may fail immediately. Don't trust it to do anything
other than get you home at low-ish speeds. I have used it before and
totally forgotten it was there. I have also used it and barely made it home
    before it failed. YM-W-V
They may object to it, or even charge you a couple of quid for cleaning it
out, but it does not damage the tyre, nor does it stop a proper mushroom
    plug being fitted.

Some places are a bit arsey, some aren't. Ring round first.

Lots here will scoff but I've used Ultraseal on a Bandit 1200 and more
recently on the Blackbird for around 4000 miles including 500 miles on the
Isle of Man at speeds of around 150 mph. I've never had a problem with it
and it certainly seals punctures. I originally used it to repair a puncture
in a 200 mile old rear. The only thing I don't agree with the manufacturers
is that I never found it improved tyre mileage.

Just make sure you put in EXACTLY the right amount otherwise you may get a
    bit of an imbalance.

I wouldn't use any other foam personally.
