I did the IAM. However they just hound you for Cash afterwards , even
asked for a direct debit payment the cheeky sods.

Thinking of doing the ROSPA as it seems a little more advanced , graded
results and resit the test every 3 yrs.

RoSPA bronze is the same as the IAM test pass. But yes, it gives the
opportunity to gloat even more, in a "lookat me, I'm better then you -
officially" kinda way, by getting graded as silver or gold.

  3. "Yeah, I saw you coming up behind me and you know how Volvo drivers are
dangerously clueless cunts, so I felt it was safer to be further away
from you...actually... nevermind - no, no reasons."

    or alternatively...

"Sure, you boys didn't paint the car properly, I'd never have done that
if I'd known you were old bill..."

Bound to get you off next time.

Yeah, I don't rate the IAM much. I'd like to go for the RoSPA gold
    this year though )

The road down to Verdun had quite a few instances of solid lines that
    seemed utterly pointless.

Fucking hell. I'm shocked. Someonee actually feel that road markings
    have a reason.

I put it down to the council having a large paint budget which they have
to spend before the end of the financial year or lose it in the next
    one.

Having said that, I try to observe the rules.

Well, I sailed through that at 90-100 on the ZXR and didn't see a single
police car. Once I got through Calne I felt relaxed enough to up the
    pace.

However they're really fucking up the A4 there's a *lovely* sweeping
bend about a mile from Chippenham that's just peachy at abouyt 80-90
which the cunts have now re-rated from NSL to a 40. Sure there's a pub
at the exit of the bend but even so...
Tough? I don't find it tough I find it impossible. I mean how can you
do a sustained 60 anywhere on a bike?

Couldn't agree more; I've been applying that argument for years.

The problem is that I don't remember that well; for example the centre
of stroud was an NSL in 1980 wasn't it?

Hmm, I suppose I can't argue that I try to stick by the rules but fail?

  15. I have to say that I did struggle with Burnt's last sentence - didn't
quite align to the tales of derring-do on two wheels. Your response
    summed it up nicely.

What would you suggest for mobile enforcement though? I went up to
Redditch yesterday to pick up some stuff - as it was I needed to go
early (as in 5am departing home early) and I had a lovely ride up to
Stratford, ignoring most of the limits (most of the roads are now 50
limits but were safely navigated by me at 80+ on the up) - on the way
home the Camera van's had woken up (7:40 start - pretty early on a
Sunday - luckily people coming the other way warned me about it) and
that put a real downer on the rest of the ride.

Observation from then on meant I wouldn't get caught, but it takes
focus from enjoying the ride to trying to check every layby as I
crested hills to see if I could crack on. That's not much fun.

IN the end I came off the A44 and just did some unmarked/B-roads home
    instead.

So I agree with your idea that 50's are, on the whole, daft - but the
prospect of getting nicked when riding safely makes me rather angry
about it all - not only because the van was on a straight bit, but
because it's just no fun riding at 53mph.

Of course I didn't see a single 'real' Police car, so taking my number
plate off would have worked fine. Maybe that's the future "it just fell
    off".
