Hugely. I almost never watch football on telly (unless I've got a bet
on, and not always even then). Firstly, you simply can't see what's
going on. At the ground you can see the whole thing, not just the guy
who's got the ball. That's important to understand the game, and
tactics, and the rules. And secondly the atmosphere at proper clubs
(like West Ham, for example, where we don't have gloryhunting
    supporters) is superb.

Though I generally couldn't give a rat's arse about footy, I did rather
enjoy both times I was at Stamford Bridge (though the free bar probably
    didn't hurt any...)

  3. Certainly the first point is my impression as well. Close ups of
players are all well and good, but you can't tell who they are
hoofing the ball to most of the time. But I've only been
to one football match[1], so I probably count as a gloryhunting
    supporter...

    I went to the pub.

The only pub in Solihull with no televisions or radios.

    It was beautiful.

I had a small chuckle walking to the pub last night. Saw several cars
driving around with flags on and the thought crossed my mind that if
they were such big fans, why weren't they watching the game?

I'm getting nearly as bad. I cut my finger open on a paint brush last
    night.

Why don't you buy from your own shop? Surely you get a staff
    discount?

I bought a bottle of Kahlua and a bottle of Bols Triple Sec in
Waitrose yesterday. And 6 bottles of wine in Tesco. Not sure I have a
    point here.

Anything in a sealed container where the quality isn't subject to Asda's
choices, I'll leave to Asda. Washing powder, beer, vodka, bleach, pegs,
    that kind of thing.

Booze from Waitrose is extortionate, and (in stock items only) of no
better quality than that from Asda or even, probably, Farmfoods. After
all, a bottle of kahlua is a bottle of kahlua wherever you buy it.

Nigel Eaton bored us all completely to death with wittery prose along
    the lines of:
I don't really give a **** either. I only support it when there are
international matches, to introduce some 'spirit' in the office <G>

    Rugby, OTOH...
