Where is it? I'll keep you company, and suggest food that requires
    little or no dangerous prepration...

    :)

This could be turned around, to "What sort of sad case *does* like
    football?"

I have a cross of St George on the back of my CeeBee, but I hate
football with a passion. It's there because I love England.

Christ, that's *much* worse than enjoying a game of footie. Anyway, doesn't
Malta have a flag or something?

I couldn't find a Maltese one in the UK. I found this England one on the
floor in Halfrauds car park in Kettering, so added it to the multitude
    of stickers on the CeeBee.

Aye, the pikeys of Abergavenny aren't too happy that Morrisons have flogged
off their Safeway to Waitrose. Looks like Iceland will be getting a boost
    in turnover.

Saw that - 15th July opening day.

Thought Waitrose would be ideal for Abergavenny, though.

Still, it's a decent place for me to grab my shopping on the way home
    from work.

    That's my birthday. I didn't organise any shop openings...must be a surprise
    party.

    Carry on.

Well, I left home early, bought some pizza and beer and watched it on my
lovely big widescreen tv with g/f. I was looking at no-one sideways, no-one
got thumped and I smashed no windows and yet I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    So there.

I can't stand it either, but I hope England go all the way. Every time
they play, it leaves some lovely empty roads to enjoy on a dry summer
    evening :)

  19. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember (SteveH)
    saying something like:
    <waves>

    Can't stand it.
Bunch of overpaid prima-donnas, prancing around like overbred donkeys.

Unlike the majority of Waitrose's staff who will be heading into town to
shop at Iceland & TescoMetro. [1]

Abergavenny has a reputation as a posh, market town. Indeed, there are a
large number of green wellie types from the rural hinterland, but the
majority of the urban populace are low level civil servants working in
Cwmbran/Pontypool or NHS staff from Neville Hall hospital.

Waitrose wanted a town centre shop. Delays over planning meant they did
a deal with Morrisons over the available out of town site. Most locals
would have preferred to have Waitrose in the town plus a Tesco/Asda in
    the 'burbs.

[1] based on what happens in nearby Monmouth where they nip over to
Somerfield as it's still cheaper than Waitrose with staff discount
