It's a shame that an ex-Safeway store like Wokingham has fallen into the
hands of a discounter like Morissons. Wokingham is / was a pretty
awesome store, and cost Safeway something like £30 million to build,
ISTR it was the 'flagship' store at one point, as it was the prototype
for pretty much all the good stuff that Carlos Perez would have rolled
out to the whole company if he'd found the funding to do so.

I was quite impressed by the big Safeway in west Glasgow.

In as much as it's possible to be impressed by a supermarket, that is.

Come off it. He can't be Wayne Rooney *and* the guy from the
    "Pimms-o-clock" advert.

IIRC it was quite nice, not at all like the depressing, shabby, pikey-food
emporium that the Thornbury store has become.

I'm not saying they're common, but I've come across a few of them. I
think they became a bit more common at the end of last year, following the
    Rugby World Cup.

Maybe they're more common in this part of the world, where the best soccer
has to offer is Cheltenham Town FC.

    It's a movie spin-off, but at least it's a British spin-off.
