Kermode still suffers from "Mark Lamarr Hair". And I like Lamarr.
    ouch.

Well, thnks for the heads up: I'd have missed it otherwise.

Despite my initial dismayed "what /have/ they done to the story? And
that's nowhere near the way Dirk was described in the book[1]" I
actually quite enjoyed it. Quirky and well acted as far as this critic
    was concerned.

[1] Yes, yes, it's it's never how we mentally picture it when we read
    the book first.

    !! POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT[2] !!!

[2] that's "'potential spoiler' alert", not "potential 'spoiler
alert"' though I guess the phrase is effectiveky associative.

I did guess the thing about the cats pretty quickly.

  5. I think I'll dig it out for a read, shortly. So I can shout at the telly
    when they bugger it up.

It's a lot less bovver to shout at the telly anyway. From 1st
    principles, as 'twere

If you've never read it, the programme story only bears a passing
    resemblance to the book.

Pip Luscher === Plus Cipher (was that on purpose?) Then again, Uric
Schlepp is rather good, or Pip Lurches, or Hip Scruple. Rich Supple
    would make a good pseudonym.

Oh. So the difference between reading or not reading a book doesn't
change the degree of connectedness of the book with another medium?
    How boringly un-quantum.

Well, there HAS... but it was Joanna Lumley. She found the Master sexy and
they went off together at the end. (The curse of fatal death comic relief
