Which is just as well or they'd go broke refunding/replacing the tools.

They're "Ok", but they're not great tools.

  4. Excuse me? TIGHTENING the bolt with the breaker bar?

You require a fucking torque wrench. Heathen.

Or retirement. There are enough tools in there to see me out.
Until I buy a bike or car with yet another variation on the latest
    impossible fastener.

Did you ever find a driver for those?

I ended up making my own tool

The bit that annoys me is that people keep giving me additional
redundant shitty socket sets for Christmas rather than individual decent
tools that wouldn't break as soon as I look at them strangely.

I've got three of the metric ratchet ones ones and they are good.

The thing that annoys me is Halfords charging twice as much for the AF
set as they do the metric one. Cheeky buggers!

That would be an old jacket, with non-metric fasteners?

  14. The solution is to explicitly ask not to be bought such items, getting
the correct ones yourself and being reimbursed - I've pretty much
bought all my own presents this Xmas.

Err, have you seen the torque needed on a Landrover crankshaft bolt
[1] It's either 3 seconds on a rattle gun or standing on a breaker bar
    for 10 seconds.

It's a matter of feel, innit. Never had a crankshaft pulley fall off
    on me yet ...

    Paul.

    [1] Hint, it's over 150lb/ft

I have some that just clutter up the toolbox (like a set of deep,
imperial impact sockets and a lot of 3/4 drive 'big stuff', in case I
ever need to go out working on JCB's or tractors ... ;)

It will happen precisely 3 weeks after you pass them on as 'you really
    don't need them'

    You may have a point...

Which just goes to show that Halfords is a greedy corporation that
takes advantage of the mentally disturbed.
