  7. Erm...while I'm excited an' all, just to be clear, people do realise
that is *highly* unlikely to be in-game footage, right?

Why? I confess I know little about the PS2 as PC has always been my
games platform of choice, but I thought most all PS2 games were dev'd on
PC, anyway? Have you seen, for instance, TOCA3 on the PC?

Check out the screenies section. Yes, they /are/ in-game shots.

Mr. Fantastic? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
You have got GT4 haven't you? (or is it 3? anywhoo)

The "intro footage" in those games is done using the game itself, they
do the shots playing the game, and then replay the "video" on the PS2
and move the "virtual" cameras around.

Alright, the video replay that you can do adds extra highlights and
little details, but it is still in game footage.

  11. It's simply much too far in advance of what the PS2 is capable of. Yes,
the code and art assets for PS2 games are generated on PCs and Macs but
all the same they have to run on the PS2, which is a platform with an
entirely different set of performance specs. It's pretty safe to assume
it's just a promo trailer made for the Tokyo Game Show.
Very nice. But that's a PC game, and if past experience is anything to
go by that will be running at full detail on a very high spec PC, not
necessarily at anything like a playable framerate, and not at all
comparable to what is achievable the PS2 I'm afraid.

Mr. Fantastic came up with the following;:
It's more likely using a replay function of the in-game action. You
couldn't control a bike from those angles, but they are what a spectator
    might see.

    Yes it is...
....which will, like TOCA2, be available for both the PS2 & Xbox...
....You need a better PC then, mate. I run TOCA2 at a capped 35fps with
everything on max at 1024x768, 32bpp.
Right, well, that's wha I was also trying to establish. I'll stick with
    my PC.

  14. Yes I'm aware of that, but I'm not talking about the camera angles, I'm
talking about what is or isn't technically feasible on the ps2.

Don't forget, if that's in-game footage everything you see there has to
be rendered, in real-time, at a rate of at least 30fps on a machine
that's, what, 4-5 years old now? Polyphony can do some amazing things
with the ps2, but I would be surprised if there's not just a little
post-editing going on there. I've seen promos for next-gen games that
don't look as good as that.

    But anyway, we'll see.

It doesn't look that much better than GT4, so I'd be inclined to
believe it. As you say, we'll see.

The makers (polyphony) haven't ported any of the massively successful
gran turismo series, so I don't see why they'd port this one to PC.

You wouldn't believe the number of games I've tried that thing with.
Well, you probably would but none of them work.

I was secretly hoping for "Prance of Death: Ninja Tango Delta Force",
    but I can't read japanese so I reckon it's a non-starter.
