Whitbread had three pubs in my parents village and sold two off during
the late 80s/90s. Neither of them survived as pubs and ended up being
bought for conversion to housing during the boom.

 

I'd never been a pub user until recently, but looking at the number of
customers, I wonder how the **** they make a living.

I get my coffee's for free, so it's a cheap night for me

Good job too if the village pubs round here are anything to go by.
Stinking shitholes serving over-priced disgusting food for the most
part. Unsurprisingly the one that doesn't stink & serves excellent food
is still doing a roaring trade - packed to the rafters last night, the
same as any other night.
