I would think that the survey was also done before BMW started replacing the
potentially leaky quick release connectors on the fuel lines with ones that
definitely leaked as part of a general recall.

Looking at the scores most of the Jap makes are also quite reliable[1].
Honda weren't too far behind with 89.2% against the top score of 90% for
    BMW.

I may have said this before but in recent years the only bikes and cages I
have owned that have left me stranded due to breakdowns have had a BMW
    badge.

    1. Not a particular surprise.

  6. Illiterate winker!! It should be PERPETUATING the myth.

But for the truthfulness of the sentiment you're forgive ;-)

  7. Duh, I'd forgotten all about UKGers - haven't read it for months. Too many
distractions, and too few brain cells. I'd picked up some (un)reliability
comments from US owners , but not UK or EU ones.

Think I'll stick with good ol' Captain Beakie - at least it's got so much
road presence that traffic moves aside like the parting of the Red Sea!

Really, are cliches mandatory in your tawdry milieu?

If so, how about this one: FOYRNB?

Got my copy of Ride.. what a surprise, the Fireblade wins.

My scepticism was mildly fueled by the "owners" column where one bloke took
his back due to dodgy paint. "Two runs totalling 400 miles - what a great
    bike". Right.

But 400 miles is a bloody long way for paint to run, even in two streaks.
