What are they - one behind the other? Seem to remember seeing only one
door when I was at your place...

I had roughly worked that out. I was going to wear shorts and a pair of
fucked trainers. I'll try not to wear Ralph Lauren socks, like I wore
when I painted my bedroom last week. That's fifteen quid down the
    shitter.

I'll take that as a compliment. Outside of the office environment, I
    take pride in my scruffiness.

Good call. I borrowed theirs when mine was being a right **** after the
ant-powder/filter-cleaning episode. It's fucking good. Well, it is
    *now*...

How exactly did you manage to get paint on your socks?

Paint on dustsheet. Socks on dustsheet.

I have a "wholehearted" approach to painting.

    I see.

I'm due to redecorate here soon and sadly can't rememeber all the things
I got wrong last time, but know there were some. [1]

I'm sure it'll work out, for example I've decided that when I paint up
the stairs I'll not use a dust sheet because I need a new carpet
    anyway..

[1] including the choice of colours.

Add sand to the paint before you paint the floor so you have a good
grippy surface even when it's wet.

15 quid on socks? Blimey. What a waste.

I'll spend a reasonable amount on clothes but there's no way I'd spend
15 squid on a pair of socks.

Hmm... for some reason this reminds me of Pete and Dud...

"He takes the shit from other people's arseholes, spreads it on a canvas
and sells it to other cunts.

    Picasso? Mr Pick-Arsehole more like..."

They're both dead now, aren't they. *sigh*

I've nothing against self made millionaires but I just don't like the
self-publicist style that Dyson and Branson have:

Dyson "I'm a really bright bloke that makes technology easy. Did you
know Hoover tried to rip me off?"

Branson "It's OK, You can trust me. I'm part of the counter-culture and
with my beard & sweaters there's no way I'd rip you off"

    Or something like that.

I also don't think Dyson is a self made millionaire; I think he's from a
privileged background (based on discussions with someone he worked for
about 20 years ago). I've also spoken to people who've had dealings
with Branson that *suggest* my prejudices aren't completely off-beam.

I would suggest that rather than apply PVA, that the first coat of floor
paint be thinned somewhat, so as to penetrate the substrate and provide a
suitable key for the second full coat. (is the paint a water based or
    solvent based product BTW?)
