They seem like a pro outfit to me and it's a new design rather than the
    SOS[1]

    [1] Shite old shuttle.

One will have to someday. Today's as good a day as any (unless they try to
do it right here, the hailstones would put paid to that idea!)

Yes, I recon it stands the best chance of winning the X prize. Seeing as
the inventor (Dick Rutan) also produced the world's first plane to
circumnavigate the world without refuelling (Voyager, 1986), he's got good
    credentials.

Indeed but I have to say my personal favourite is the one the lauches from a
    balloon.

Yes, but is that just for its comedy effect? :)

Watching the live feed now, I thought it was on it's way down, but it was
evidently the plane thingy circling as it went up (camera angle was odd) I
saw it launch a few minutes ago - strange blob of vapour, which then
spread out upwards as it shot off.
The plane is just coming down on it's own now, so the rocket should be due
back in about an 30 mins to an hour, I think?

Its not the size that counts, its where you put it.

    Very.

"Dad, can we take the ship out?"
"Only if you pay for the petrol!"

  15. It's a cool thing, for so many reasons.

Governments and their ballastic systems? Stuff 'em.
Give me something that looks like it was designed by
a 1960s comic book artist and actually works...

I seriously think there must be some very unhappy people at Nasa, who've
been saying to their bosses for years, "Look, this is a better way to do
things! We could save loads of cash." But have met with the all too
familiar reply, "Calm down with your new ideas son, this is the way it's
always been done, that's just too risky."

That's exactly what occurred to me - "straight out of Captain Scarlet"
    was my choice of phrase.
