Wandering around Tesco last night, I spotted that they had a Karcher
pressure washer on special offer - £99, down from £199.

However, I've done a bit of research this morning and it's just one of
    the entry class ones:
    http://www.karcher.co.uk/uk/Products/Home__Garden/Pressure_washers/Entry_class/16732140.htm

I want it mainly for bike, car and patio cleaning, so I probably need
something a bit more meatier. At least something frim their medium
    range:
    http://www.karcher.co.uk/uk/Products/Home__Garden/Pressure_washers/Medium_class.htm#top

I guess I should just throw money at the problem and get the meatiest
(read: expensive) that I can justify.

    Opinions?

Don't let it freeze in the winter.

We have the 2.9 and it's great for stuff around the garden/cleaning the
    car etc.

Karcher are weird, they seem to produce a myriad of models with slightly
variations so that Tesco can have a special offer on a model which isn't
available anywhere else. This means it's difficult to comparison shop.
That said, I've had pretty good experiences with Tesco warranty returns
    and their prices seem OK.

The plastic connectors between the pipes are crap, they are difficult to
do up/undo and have a tendency to snap off.

Mine now has a dribble, I suspect because I left it in the shed last
winter <doh>. I need to dismantle and see if it can be fixed when I
    get some tuits.

That's why I've always avoided them.

Wickes own brand is a rebadged Draper.
I have a Karcher and it's still going strong after something like 12 years.

Mine fell to bits all the time, just not very good quality, mind you it was
a cheap pile of shit from the start.

I have one of the big wheeled Karchers back in NI. Fabulous and has lasted
for years. I bought one of the little cheapies for York, it died first
winter and parts were not available.

Halfords have a slightly better one (HP2000 Pressure Washer) reduced
from £199 to 99 too. they also have the HP2800 reduced from £320 to
    £150.

last time we were looking they had a better quality one mis priced so
we bought that. also had an offer that they threw in a car vac. (not
that it will ever be used).

+1. Mine's been used regularly for cars, patio cleaning (mine and my lads)
and bikes for years and never given an ounce of trouble.

I bought mine as a second, from a dodgy market expecting it to last no more
    than six months.

    Best £25 I ever spent.

I think they're no different to any amount of other items. Some are good and
some aren't, but generally, if people buy them to provide their daily bread,
they have to be *something not shite* and worth buying and the three car
valeters I know all use Karcher.

Do what I just did. Lend the car to a relative. I lent my unwashed Civic to
my brother following his MX5 death and he and his missus have scoured the
thing inside and out. I now know it's green.

  18. I bought a Sealey own-brand thing, about 15 years ago and the only thing
that's given trouble is the footswitch, last year.

Check out the Karcher outlet store - they often have some pretty good
bargains, if you don't mind refurbs (though they also have end-of-line
    stuff):
