I'm taking my 10R to Road and Track in Aylesbury tomorrow to be set up.
    http://www.roadandtrack.co.uk

    I currently have:

    Micron Beta Race cans: CTK62/O

    http://www.micronexhausts.com/prod_detail.asp?prod_id=42952

    Power Commander III USB

    K+N Filter

    It's green.

I'm having work done on the butterflies and maybe the airbox. I will also
have a TRE fitted (if needed) and a custom map done

He aim is to beef up the midrange and remove the restriction in the first
few gears. Top end would probably be academic but it would be nice to have a
    figure for it.

What do you think the RWHP will be? So place your bets and win a prize for
the closest to the final figure.

I'll rummage around my box..ang on. The prize will be a well worn
kneeslider, it may be a pair.

Far be it from me to be a safety nazi but, IMHO, you really should keep old
    sliders elsewhere.

Danny's race bike is an early model, like Champ's - it makes 168bhp at
the wheel with PC111, race bellmouths in the standard airbox and a full
titanium MHP race system. We're back to the old "all dynos give
different readings" thing again. Whatever it makes, he still has
problems puting the power down fully out of bends - and this is on
slicks - so why anyone would want to tune one even further for road use
    is beyond me.

Well QB reckon 10bhp for their airbox/filter, so say 8.5 at the wheel,
plus 1.5 for the cans giving 10 total. Get the airbox work right & you
might get 50% of that? Which would give you 169 assuming stock is 164.
Wild guesswork at best though, not knowing what can be done with the
    stock airbox.

I wonder how far I could open the throttle in a corner on my 120ish bhp Zed?
Probably all the way, but I did say "I".

I agree, he's already told me that before he does anything to the bike he
runs it up on the dyno a few times to check the fueling. He will also check
it after the mods for a power figure. Then he will produce the custom map.

My main interest is the mid range and I'm hoping that the butterfly mods/tre
will improve it. I actually miss the low end grunt from my gixxer. So if I
can get close to that and still keep the top end "eeeeek" I'll be a happy
    bunny.
That actually makes sense, even to me.

I agree, the main reason for me though is to try and beef up the mid range
and get the fuelling right. My main interest is the before and after graph
    between 4000-7000 rpm.

As I said to you the other day, you're more than welcome to try it out.

I'd say that's unlikely. Top end "eeeeeks" are usually due to the
transition from a relatively weak mid-range to a strong top end. This
is why 2-strokes & old-style turbos give the best "eeeeek" of all.

Boosting the mid-range flattens out the transition, making it feel
    weaker at the top end.

  17. Say hello from me. He did a good job on my VTR and my RGV.

Mind you, I've forgotten his name, so he's probably forgotten mine.

Dealer chappy was telling me on Saturday the 10R is deliberately done
like that. Not so strong in the low and mid, then a kick at 8k and
another at 11k. He said I'd find it a bit different to ride than my
GSXR because that makes it's power lower down the range, but probably
easier to ride at lower speed because of it.
