Power Commander - worth having?

I'm tempted to get one for the 10R but I'm not convinced by some of
the claims I hear made about them.

I've already got a Scorpion race can and a K&N air filter and when it
was on the dyno previously I was told that a PC111 was needed to get
    much more out of it.

What I don't want to be doing is having to put the bike back on a
dyno again so the fuckers can mince another back tyre. I'd sooner just
download a map for the PC111 and know that it was going to be right.
Is this going to happen or am I living in La La land?

There are quite a few maps online but what's the point of fitting a PC
if you don't use it to get the best results. Expensive they are. Seems
unlikely that a specific bike with a mix of induction and exhaust mods
will be *just* right without a dyno setup. You could wait until your
rear tyre is due replacement anyway? There is a mobile wagon visits the
    road races here.

I know that I'll get the best results by running the bike on a dyno
but only if I'm constantly changing stuff around and comparing
    results.

I don't see any point at all in putting the bike on a different dyno
from last time unless I get a preliminary run done and then have the
kit fitted by the dyno operator and I'm not going to pay some **** to
do something I can do myself in under half an hour. The trouble then
is that I can be fooled into believing I've got a massive gain in
power when all I've got is someone running a 'corrected' dyno rather
than one that isn't such as where mine was tested previously.

If I buy one I'll probably just fit it, download a map and then wait
until next time I go over to the IoM then get it looked at again. I'd
like a bigger airbox before I go because having looked at the charts
for Fozzies bike that's where the biggest gain came from.

TT next year. Remaining holidays put a stop to doing the Manx.

We did consider doing the Manx, then we looked at going over to Europe
for a week and finishing up at Assen for the WSB round but even with
the current situation I'd say we'll both use up our remaining holidays
at one or another of the Red Sea resorts.

Good constructive arguement against a PC111. I'll just do a couple of
    decent track days instead.

I was tempted to post a moderately sarcastic comment about la la land
    but thought better of it.

I had one on the Blade to sort the poor fueling. It worked great
until it broke. A mate has one on his CBR600 race bike and that
packed up the other week. Personally I wouldn't bother with one
unless the fueling is particularly crap which I don't think it is on
the 10 or I fitted a FULL system.

How much and who's the organiser? I don't think I'll be able to get
the day off because we're a bit busy right now but it's worth
    considering.

I like Oulton and I think I owe it to myself to do a trackday there.

So not very reliable? I'll scrap that idea then.

It's not as if the bike's lacking in power, it's just that you can
never have too much of it.

Why not buy a K6 instead?

I know you liked your old one but the K6 is more powerful, better
    handling and allegedly more comfortable.

I'm sticking with the K3 for that reason.

Not at all. I've not heard of anyone complaining about the K5 or 6
when it comes to comfort and being lighter I'd expect to find it
easier to ride fast over long distances.
