Looking for an aftermarket pipe, and while obviously carbon fibre will
look right, was thinking about how I could get a metal pipe in matt
black - any suggestions about whether a staintune stainless pipe could
be powder coated or anodised or some other treatment to get a matt black
look ? I guess stove black, but I doubt it'd stick.

    15K ? You must think I'm a better bargainer than I am ! You'd be lucky
to get a naked Raptor for that new, on road, let alone an X.

I didn't pay rec retail (well I did buy two bikes at the same time) but
    RRP is here

    http://www.mvagusta.com.au/

As for the "just ride it" - well it now has 2850km on the clock, I've
had it what, 2.5 weeks ? Interestingly enough (and contrary to my
expectations) it's a much better bike two up than the Bandit - heaps of
ground clearance and the seat setup works much much better - you don't
end up with the pillion's weight on you.

I'd be hoping to pay a lot less than 3K for a pair of pipes - best
quote so far was 1800, I've got to ring staintune now and get a quote
on a pair of CF ones from them, but yeah by the time I've added the CF
belly pan, the CF hugger and the CF front guard, with the new pipes I'll
be up around 3K. <shrug> it's only money.

Power Commander is $650, "doin' bikes" wants $800 to buy one, fit it
and dyno tune it - which sounds reasonable to me - anyone ever used
    them ?
V Raptor is I think 2K more than an N-Rap, and the X comes with CF
panels everywhere as well as fully adjustable marzocchi forks and fully
adjustable Sachs rear. V -Rap is no front adjust and preload only on
the back (I think). A decent rear shock is $1500 alone. It's also a
limited edition of 999 world wide if that's worth something. <shrug> It
doesn't really matter, I bought it 'cos I liked it <grin>
