Polycarb vs Fibre some thoughts.

  1. Ok so I have put my new yerrat[1] through a couple of tankfuls of 20
minute blasts round the Essex Countryside and I know why it is noisy.

    Mechanical innit.

Because it is little more than a high tech plastic moulding the thing is
as light as a feather and it achieves this lightness, in part, by being
thin in places where thick doesn't particularly matter to meet the
safety regs. So it rattles dunnit.

This is not going to happen so much with a fibre one as the fibres can
easily be arranged during manufacture to damp out mechanical stuff.

Weight or no weight it is back to fibre for the next one, one where the
sales droid can point out to me the deliberate acoustic damping built
    into the shell, no arguments.

[1] I am getting to grips with the seat belt style chin strap and it is
not the issue I thought it might be. The one hand front lifting is a
dream come true and with it's natty internal flip down visor I continue
to look so in it that maidens have been known to feint as I pass. The
excellent ventilation means it still doesn't mist but I wouldn't fancy
going more than an hour in it at motorway speeds in winter.

Let me put it this way. I've owned some shitty helmets in the past, but
    I wouldn't buy a Caberg.

That's a bit like saying that, apart from the engine, there's nothing
    wrong with your MZ.

    Well there isn't.

The seat is dead comfy it is and you can see from horizon to horizon, in
    daylight.

But's it's all completely irrelevant. My desk chair is dead comfy too,
and I can even adjust the ride height, angle and suspension...

Ride height is a piece of piss on the MZ, low going to market and high

Well, OK, at a push, I might be prepared to admit that your MZ makes a
better form of transport than my desk chair, but there's not much in
    it.

Don't knock it. It is surprisingly good fun. For a start you get to
ride at full throttle for every inch of the journey.

I've recently bought a replacement Davida, the newer legal version, and
I'm a bit disappointed with it.

Usual high quality finish and build but it's disorientating as it blocks
out nearly all sound. This has the effect accentuating wind noise. So
it appears noisy but I can't hear a fucking thing.

I used to judge the Guzzi by induction roar; now I find myself over
    revving it.

Wearing ear plugs has helped as it cuts out the wind and I can hear the
engine again but I'm still not happy with it.
