So, considering the ideas they seem to be having, it's Up Against the
    Wall for the Lib's.

Which would mean anybody on less than about £115k would be a winner.

    Reading it more closely
    http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285
it was actually the year to April 2007, so really two years ago.

Plus if you really can't bring yourself to vote Tory, and you really
can't bring yourself to vote for Gordon Brown, they're about all
    you've got left.

Whilst I completely understand and agree with the sentiment - why
_should_ the contents of your underwear dictate the size of your
paycheque (outside of a few particular industries, of course) I can't
help but think it might not actually be that simple.

I wonder how many men would be in the same positions in their careers if
they'd chosen to have a year's paid sabbatical on a whim at short notice,
followed by a period of reduced hours/part-time/not working at all.

If, of course, they could get agreement to do so...

News to me. In fact, I think you might be suprised how un-racist folks
    round here seem to be.

Are you calling the BNP racists? Shirly that's a bit libellous.

Considering it takes that much money to have a half decent life in the
UK now well done to the last 43 years of governments for delivering us
    to such a wonderful State

Except when they're telling the "Cockney Mafia" to **** off back where
they came from. Leaving all the money behind, presumably,

I'd suggest the statistics don't give the full picture though. In my
limited view it seems a lot of women seem to choose not to climb the
career ladder, instead wanting a better work/life balance, and
actively avoid roles that may pay better but involve working away from
    home for weeks on end.

I was listening to a R4 discussion on the topic a few days ago. The
consensus is that much of that growing support is a short term backlash
against Labour over student funding. Apparently, areas without large
universities did not show such growth. Most of the panellists felt that
these Lib Dem votes would disappear, as the small band of politically
active students moved on, and that many of the constituencies would return
    to their former parties.

Well 3 kids but now only 1 at school but otherwise yes, single income
household apart from a little casual part time.

Doesn't sound that bad said quickly. I'd expect, however, a number of
jobs to migrate overseas so I guess it's not as simple as it appears
    at first.
