What kind of point is that? The wider the franchise is spread
geographically, the less likely it is that the voters across the franchise
will hold similar views. Call it national identity if you like (and I'm
sure you don't). The fact that the problem is exaggerated by several orders
of magnitude in the European parliament doesn't improve matters.

    A crap example:
Bull fighting is banned across the European Union because it's mean and
cruel. 19 out of 20 (or whatever) countries think that's a jolly good thing
but then it was never a tradition there in the first place, so really,
they're not bothered anyway. The entire Spanish population however think
it's a shit idea but there was absolutely FA they could do about it.

    PS
I don't read the Daily Mail. And I didn't vote BNP or UKIP

And do you propose that we, the Great Seafaring Nation who were unable
to **** the Icelanders over a few tons of near extinct cod, would be in
any position to say no to getting on for half a billion mainlanders who
may just feel like proving the point because they can?

    Like who?

I don't insist we get into bed with them permanently, we are already. I
want to make sure I continue to get my say in who gets sloppy seconds.

I disagree. We have no wish to dictate their affairs, or for that
matter any other EU country. Why is it so important we allow a
bunch of self-interested foreigners, many who have never even
visited Britain, to decide what's best for us?
LOL! Or even worse Blair and Glenda Jackson.

It was all based on lies and deceit. The 1971 White Paper on
joining the Common Market specifically said: “No question of any
erosion of essential national sovereignty is entailed”.

    We've been had.

It's not *dictated* it's *negotiated* in the common interest for heavens
    sake.

And here you go again "self-interested foreigners", "decide what's best
    for us" etc. etc. etc.

If it's my choice, I'd rather have decisions made by people without a
    narrow one-nation view.

Why do you think our interests are that different from those of Spain,
or Italy, or France for example?
I'd like to see the funny side, really. And at least Blair and Glenda
Jackson have an intellect and political experience; Joan Collins doesn't
live here and hasn't ever voted- remind me again what's her relevance?

1971 was 33 years ago. It was a completely different world.

Most of the companies employing the posters to this NG,for example,
    didn't exist then (I'd guess).
    The iron curtain hadn't fallen.
The Vietnam war was still ongoing.
The Japanese 'economic miracle' hadn't happened
The rest of the far east wasn't exporting to us
There were, what, 3 or four US Dollars to the pound.
    Times have changed.

Better than the one we have. Britain pays £25 Million every DAY
directly into the EU budget. We have already bent and twisted our
legal system to accommodate EU laws so no problem there.

And, what do we get back from the EU in regional aid payments etc.?

Can you give an example of where we've bent our legal system?

I am against the entire principle of a federal Europe. We are all
different countries with our own individual cultures and
languages. Soon Turkey will be another member joining eager to
get a snout in the Euro-trough. What have we got in common with
    Turkey?

It's that expression "in the common interest" that I don't like.
It's been used by Stalin, Hitler and today by Robert Mugabe. The
interests of the common people are surely best served at a local
level rather than as decreed by a faceless beaurocracy
A few examples. Spanish naval vessels cut the nets of any British
fishing boat that approaches their waters. Italy has attempted to
ban us from slicing genuine Italian Parma ham saying it must be
packaged in Italy. France imposes illegal imbagoes on our food
produce at will for economic gain.
Glenda and Joan have a lot in common. Both are actresses who have
got their tits out on screen. Both are intelligent, passionate
women. I can't see why JC's principles should be any less sincere
or valid than GJ's. However Joan has only signed up as a UKIP
patron, she's not standing for election.

The Italians regularly elect female porn stars as politicians so
as we're all supposed to be one big happy Euro-family we should
follow their lead. Jordan would get my vote.

attempted to invade us. That better?
