  3. Far be it from me to attempt to correct one such as your eminent self,
but I was under the impression that the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland no longer imposes capital punishment for any
offence, as a consequence of European Human Rights legislation. I stand
    ready to be corrected...

I believe it can still be applied for cases of high treason, like what
they did to Di. I could easily be wrong mind.

I don't like dates, so can't comment about that but Waitrose in Cheltenham
has an olive bar: fill your own little tubs with whatever you want from
about a dozen different olives. Some of them are very, very nice.

Like bringing in soldiers dressed in police uniforms, with
instructions to be as violent as they wish, against striking workers.

The commercial practices of the big buyers, be they supermarkets or
McDonalds show some appalling restrictive practices. But hey, we all
    want "free" markets, right?

I think that may be wrong. IIRC the last crime for which there was the
death penalty, was mutiny on board one of HM's ships. Even then, that
was repealed by Blair a couple of years ago.

You say that like it was a bad thing. All strikers are scum, as anyone
growing up in the '70s would be able to tell you.

So? The point being made was that quality stuff was held back by EU
practises, not that it was expensive. Market forces, inmnit?
Furry snuff - take it up with the buyers, importers, wholesalers and
retailers then. Nowt to do with the EC AFAICS.
