Did anyone see that program on the Beeb last night with Dr Winston tache
bloke? It was looking at a cross section of kids over a series of five year
intervals. There was one kid stuck in a no hope single mum type environment
that was heart breaking to watch. Fair glummed me out it did.

Its a french thing. They lick toads to take their minds off the constant
    smell of garlic and onions.

Yeah a bit of a shame really as I am already committed to the West

  9. Well, the online dictionary says:
"a person who praises and is artificially pleasant to people in authority,
usually in order to get some advantage from them"

I used it more in the context of being a "suck-up"

I particularly like Tony Blair's quote:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4147861.stm

"I think they feel - as we all do - shock, horror,
and absolute solidarity with those people who have
    lost their lives."

The scary part for me was the associations the kids had with the
pictures of the kids WRT to who they would most like to be friends with
(blond hair, blue eyes) and who was most likely to be nasty (coloured
skin and dark eyes). The only one with the positive black role model
was the kid who's mum was pushing him to be proud of his colour.
