    G'Day,
I bought a Scooter on a whim last year. A 50cc "BUG" advertised at $1900
    new,
but as per the receipt it cost $2,400 to get it out on the street. Bright
    Yellow.
Not a scratch. Less than 20Kms on the clock. Yep. I hate the little
    bloody
thing! After being a bike rider for most of my formative years, I thought
one of these was a doddle. JESUS they feel scary to me! Rode it once,
    then put it away.

Anyway, I'll take a cash offer for the thing obviously, but the reason
I intruded on your group was to ask if anyone wanted to swap an old
bike for a new Scooter? Don't really mind what it is as long as it is
registered (no time to be a restorer). Although I'd accept a 500cc Norton
    Manx without rego ;-)

    Cheers,
    Mark Addinall.

$3.50, and, since you are a visitor, I skip around offering the kick in
    da nutz.

However, it would have to be delivered to Sydney.

    Seriously, tho, I am curious.

Adelaide is the most scooter-friendly city in Oz that I've ever been to.

Do you think you'd be any happier on an elderly, lo-powered motorcycle?

    If so, why?

Warning:- this is not an offer of a 1978 Yammie 126!

    regards,

What a reciprocal kick in the nuts or the Scoot?!
My old age politeness hide the Harley flashes
    on my runt-like arms...

Gotta skip on the $3.50 however.
OK, a serious question gets a serious answer. I grew up on bikes,
from the first BSA Bantam I rescued mostly from the dump,
through a lot of nice bigger English bikes. Norton 500s ES2,
various Trumpets. Commando was always a little large
and uncomfortable. Played with some Jap bikes, 350 Suzie,
350 Kwack. Bought a WLA Harley whilst pissed, and traded
that up for a 998 1968 Sportster, and LOVED that ride.
Nice and tichy for a tichy person. The last bike I owned
was a 900cc Z1 that Darcy up in QLD kitted out to
1132 for me. That was cool. Probably a bit too fast
for the roads of the day.

I bought the Scoot on a whim, and rode it just once. Having
all the weight of the thing somewhere under my bum made
me feel instantly unsafe. Point two, as the thing is powered by a 50cc
glow plug engine, I find it rather a worry when you twist the business
    bit, and bugger all happens.

So, I like the mass under my tank and/or chest. It makes me comfy.
And I like a bike to do something when fed juice. Doesn't
have to be standing quarters, I just like it to move a little.

In closing, I'm not bagging Scooters that much, it just doesn't
work for me. Old habits and crap I suppose. I'd feel more
at home on an old CB350, although I draw the line at a Dream ;-)

Um .. it's unlikely. I think you can only register Repco ones.

Bummer. I have an old Villers 4 stroke lawnmower engine
that would shoe-horn nicely into a pre-registered Malvern
Star. Bit of wire and a few nuts and bolts. a bit like my
    legs ;-)

  9. You purchased the wrong brand and type

Go for a spin on the -

    Peugeot Lumix Blaster 50cc
    Aprilia DiTech 50cc SR
Piaggio NRG [Same family as the Aprilia]

Factory they are rockets, free them up [they are restricted] and they
do near 100km/h, then get big block/tuned up and +++km/h [yeah its
    *outside* the law]

Anyway, i can offer you $500 for your Bug, deliver it to near Paradise
5106 and pick up your cash.Might as well push it in and store it in
the back of my shed instead of yours...

Sorry; but the problem with advertising it in a motorcycle newsgroup is that
it's an entry-level bike and we've all ... err... entried already!

The S2. Bought it from a mate in the Army. Some mate! Nearly killed
    myself
    every corner ;-)

I reckon the earlier red, drum-brake S2 was THE LOOKER of the '70s Kawasaki
    fleet!

Not for riding mind you; just for looking!!

Mine was a green-un. I played with a little fat Suzy triple two stroke
    earlier
than that. That was quite nice, and a little more forgiving! Lusted after
    a Kettle
at that time.... Never did get one.
