Hi All, I was recently riding back up from Melbourne to Sydney and, though I had promised myself to be good, was stupid enough to open it up on what looked like the perfect stretch of road; straight, good surface, good visibility, no company. I shouldn't have been surprised that this was where the neenaws had decided to set up speedtraps. Despite the pull-over, the cop was extremely helpful. I got my license suspended (181kph - dang), but he drove me into town, gave a fellow bikie a lift to my bike, and even pushstarted it for him when the bikie had problems starting it (I'd forgotten to tell him he needed to have the brake on to start). The short version of the story is that I spent an unplanned 12 hours bang at the midpoint of Melbourne to Sydney, and got to hang with the trucker crowd for a bit. A friend of mine was gracious enough not to bitch too much about coaching down to pillion me, even after the midnight ride turned us into Popsicles (newspapers stuffed hither and thither to stave of the cold). The moral of the story is to listen to your friends when they say that behind every turn and over every hill is a cop car. Bicycling is actually just as fun as motorcycling when in traffic, but the hills..! Also, my absolutely beloved Suzuki Bandit 600s is up for sale at bikesales.com.au. After the ride down to Melbourne I'd really grown attached, and was never in danger of taking the bike for granted. She's a lovely bike with any omph to enjoy off the lights, but very comfortable and competent anywhere. Here is the ad http://www.bikesales.com.au/as/search/sd.do?recIndex=1&makeID=56&modelID=1136&page=0&y=23&selectedModelIndex=27&selectedMakeIndex=55&previousResultPerPage=20&currentPage=1&x=39 She's in top shape, and I think the price is a good'n. The 600 of the Bandits is apparently in short supply here in Oz, and it's certainly a very versatile bike. What do you think? Josh
