I can do it, so if you need broken fairings repairing prior to painting,
give me a shout on my speedyspic address. I'll have some pics of my
efforts available shortly for your perusal, in the meantime ask Pip or
anyone else who's seen the Thunderace fairing for a report.

Speaking of which, I must get round to Eddie's garage and dig out my spare
    side panel.

Anybody want anything from Eddie's while I'm round there, as he's off on
holiday? I think there's some beer in the fridge or a girly 4x4, if anybody
is looking for one of those.

He's never mentioned having albino porn, but I could have a scout around, if
    you want.

Actually, perhaps the FOAK could help me out. Eddie has a 1Mb broadband
connection (compared to my measly 512Kb) and a wireless network.

As his house is only about 100m from mine, as the crow flies, I'm pretty
sure I could connect to his network by, say, erecting an ariel made from old
dog-food tins in his back garden.

How would I go about connecting such an ariel to his network?

I can certainly see the roof of Eddie's house from my upstairs windows. So
maybe I need to balance the dog food tin tower on his roof.

    He'll thank me for that.
But how many Pringles tubes will I need. I've got one nearly empty one
    downstairs right now.

Also, I'm still a bit shaky on how I physically connect it/them to his
    network.

  7. Are you shaking because you've not been able to get pr0n
at a decent rate, or because you don't understand it?

    If the latter:

Go to his house, and say "Eddie, I'm having a mechanical
problem that I need you to sort." And then explain the
    problem.

Eddie will do what he does every other time you've done
that with bike related mechanical problems, and do it.

    Job done.

Bit of both, truth be told.
No he won't. He'll fail to hear me, what with him being in the South of
    France and all.

That was the point, you see? If I'm going to have to stick a tower of dog
food tins on his roof then it's _much_ better to do it while he's away,
    innit?

No but I'd like to hear about Eddie coming home and catching you doing it.

connecting such an ariel to his network?
It makes one weep to think of all the things one could achieve if one
    *really* knew something about something.

... and on that note, if you need panels sprayed after this, let me know
    - I need more experience spraying. So far I've done two bikes and the
    front bits of a car.

However, I *don't* need experience sanding - so you get to do the prep
work and supply the paint :)

oh, and Im shite at colour matching metallic paint too..

    Champ says...
If you've got cracked or broken panels then shout me and I'll weld them
up for you. I've totally rebuilt the left panel on my Thunderace, and it
was a bit of a mess as far as cracks and broken bits are concerned. I
also made and welded in new sections for the top fairing to replace
these two missing bits, you can't see the join on either side of the
    panel.

    http://www.colin.irvine.dsl.pipex.com/Thunderace/photos/photo_8.html

The mounting just below the crack in the next picture was destroyed, so
I made a new one from a section of old broken GPZ500 fairing and welded
that in too. You can't tell where I've welded, even if you look hard.
