I can't do Chimay next year as I'll be at Tolpuddle, so where to instead?

Classic racing at Schleiz (Germany) has been mooted by a few as a change
    from Chimay.

I'm guessing the date will be about the same - third weekend in June.

We've done Chimay to death and - more to the point - I can't go, so what
    about Germany?

450 miles from the Hook or another 100 if you go via Calais.

You could do it in a day whichever way you go but it's be a long one.
I suppose using the tunnel, an overnight stop in Calais and then leave
at 8am and you'd be at the circuit at about 5pm if the normal length
of fuel stop took place and smokes and coffee were involved.

I'd be more tempted if hotels were involved because I don't want to
take the outfit and my next potential purchase ain't going to be ideal
for lugging camping kit across Europe.

  4. You just want to go back behind the wall, you unreconstructed Marxist.

But, yeah, I'd be up for that. I'd be up for Chimay as well, of course.
It's a pigging long way, but not as far as the old Bol.

If it follows the usual pattern, then I suppose practice on Friday and
Saturday morning, then racing until close of play Sunday.

OK, what would make sense would be to do a 'Bol week' style thing. Leave
the UK Thursday, ride like hell, Thursday night in a hotel (gasthaus,
rather) in Germany, arrive lunchtime Friday, depart circuit Monday
morning, and either go like hell again to catch an evening ferry or stop
onday night in France (Chepy would be nice) and take a Tuesday morning
    boat back.

I'll DFV the hotel(s) if anyone else is up for it.

I'm interested in something 'other than Chimay'.

OI, TOG - what was that event at Spa you went to?

    Well, there is that.

But there's also the concept of Slovenia to be explored.

No, not as yet. "Mid June" I suppose.

I just noticed, this evening, that the Z200 is blowing from the head gasket.

I'd be up for both too. would want to do the longer trip to the
german one as the 500 mile detour between Calais and Chimay almost
    killed me last year.

How about the Trofeo Rosso in July and ride the Guzzi on the track?

Ah, wasn't sure about the Chimay dates. So no good to Sweller if the TR
is the same weekend as usual next year.

Still a good do for anyone in to SO Italian bikes though. When I
enquired tentatively last year they said I could ride a GFR in the
'Piccolo' class, and I know they let folk ride Voxans in the modern
sessions (well they do feature lots of Italian bits).

I enjoyed riding the Mille GT outfit there in 2004, but I think a solo
    would be more fun.

    <looks at sig>

I could be persuaded to ship out a trailer load of qualifying machines
for guests to amuse themselves on. The challenge to a 125 shoot out [1]
I once made to Champ is still on, assuming he is back on a bike by then,
or he might care to nominate a stand in.

    [1] It's not a race, only a track day.
