Washed down with a couple of cold beers, followed by a decent bottle of
red. With a really *good* port to accompany the cheese course.

    Very nice.

  6. but don't forget the Christmas Pudding doused in Brandy and the
alcoholic mince pies. Of course there was the Champagne breakfast to
start the day off - a Blaney favourite I understand.

And then you've got all day Boxing Day to get tanked up again.

  8. 1990... PSI was shut for an upgrade so we went to TRIUMF for
some experiments. Found they had Usenet access and started lurking in
rec.motorcycles. For several years until PSI started a news-server, I'd
telnet to TRIUMF to read nudegropes. Then when ukrm started we didn't
have it at PSI so I used to read it from the Uni Stuttgart server, and
post out of PSI by cross-posting to alt.fan.ivan (UniSt was read-only
    to outsiders).
I'll probably still be in town. Tho' I recall one year I went to
a Christmas Eve gathering and no-one else turned up. Or something...

Nothing there that grabs me as yet, but I'll keep checking.

Does one generally pay for outbound flight for these kind of things,
or is that included in the usual employment packages?

I'll have a sniff around too.
