Biffa @ Work emerged from their own little world to say
If the Channel is rough Speedferries will not sail their ferry. You will be
diverted to a SeaFrance ferry at Dover. Allow extra travelling time or
phone ahead if you have a tight schedule.

Have a good trip and DFC.

If you like (and that snow thing stays away) we can meet on the
Belgium-German border, and I take the lead for a real nice tour covering the
last 50 mls from my place to the Ring. The Autobahn going there is a)
    limited and therefore b) boring.

Oh, wait, you are coming in a cage. In that case... no thanks!

    Cheers!

Oh Yes, I know, I've been going for a fair few years now !
I normally cut through Eupen across the road to hell to Monschau and then
follow the B258 all the way in.
The N67 gives the suspension a good chance to bed in after all those boring
    motorway miles.
Heh, sorry, maybe next year on the new bike, seeing as the vfr400 is losing
parts quicker than a leper on a fairground ride.

Good man! Right on the Spot. Exactly that route is the one to take. Except
maybe for a slight little change: Passing Eupen, do not leave the motormay
but do go further another 10 mls. Take the 1st or 2nd exit on the German
    side of the border.

The 2nd exit IS the B258 already, the 1st is an excellent qualitiy street
meeting the B258 in some 3 mls. Both ways avoid the Eupen - Monschau part,
which IS a pain. That is slightly longer though (some 5 mls maybe).

Now, if you want to take it to the max, Monschau is real nice as town for a
stopover, but a waste of miles if you want the Ring. And that route (B258
all the way) misses most of the nice corners you would enjoy on the bike.

You want to take the 2nd off after the German border, as said before, and
turn right upon B258 heading out to Monschau. You will be in "Aachen-Brand"
by that time (thats where you leave the Autobahn), next is "Kornelimünster".
Go through there, and when leaving town notice the 2 streets going left,
take the 2nd to "Venwegen". You are now within 2 mls of me, and leave the
    B258 at this point.
Head straight on (better not, follow all the curves for gods sake!) ,
through "Venwegen" and on to "Mulartshütte". At the T at the end of the
street take a right, followed by an immediate left to "Lammersdorf".
Straight through there, next is "Kesternich". There is a lone traffic light,
the only one you will see except for those at the autobahn exit. Take a left
there, and go all the way down to "Einruhr" (beware, those are REAL corners
now!). Straight through, and uphill again on the other side. There are no
roads going off for some 5 mls or so, take the 2rd heading right. Down
through "Hühnerbusch", heading for "Schleiden", where you will meet the B258
    again.
Sounds complicated, but it isn't, really. Oh, those are NOT the smallest
back-alley roads, they are very good quality and quite wide, yet overtaking
is prohibited on most of them.

Doing so avoids the Eupen - Monschau bit, and lets you catch enjoy some of
the nicer landscape around. And once you see the corners on that trip, you
will want to come back with that VFR400, I can guarantee you that already.
