they're not exactly selling themselves with that name. can you imagine
what kind of franchise screwfix would have had if they'd called themselves
    "rusty nails"?

Hehe, true although I think they are also associated with the Philpot
name. Was it formally called Philpot's or similar?
    ;-)

I'm a bit surprised no one has replied to my post though but then I
think I need a fettling / ng as here most people just want to race
Gixers and fettle using a credit card. I mean, what saddo would get
any 'rec' out of restoring / running old bikes anyway .. ? ;-)

I used them about ten years ago and they did an excellent job.
That was when they were just Joe Bloggs Hard Chroming Ltd.

  6. Ah right. Yes, they were excellent - and Skinner's were another one.

Mike sent the turbo forks to "Hard Chrome, grind re-oil and reseal".

I have the original receipt and two others marked "Re-work".

    make your own mind up.

The Turbo forks were leaking from the seals when I had the bike here, I
fitted another set of new seals just before it was re-MOTd. That would
make them the third set of replacement seals since the forks were
rechromed less than 5000 miles before.

This was the standard ukrm recommendation for hard chroming in the day:

    From Mike Gleavy:

Dynasurf (01270 763032) in Wheelock near Crewe do this as well. I think
that they do the forks for a lot of those who advertise in the press.[/QUOTE]

    Ah, ok, thanks.

I can get them done a PF 'trade' so a bit of a saving at least.

The thing with forks is they are quite important and really need to be
put right (unlike a torn seat or missing side panel) especially when
    leaking.

Whilst it's worth it (to me) to do on the CB Two Fifty (handy little
runabout and spares easily available as it's still current in the
states as the Nighthawk) I'm not sure about the GPZ (even of finished
    would it be 'me' etc.

This is my fear. You read sorties of forks being sent back because
they were in a worse condition than when they went off.

I thought if I was going to have it done it would be best with the
    devil someone knows. (FWIW etc).
