I broke one of these by accident (black one with coil through it). Can
anyone direct me in sourcing another one secondhand or something? Are these
piston rings used in any other motor? Otherwise I have to buy the whole set
of rings from Ducati which will set me back £110stg. Thanks

  2. There's a really, really good Ducati breaker in Romford, East London,
called BikeEnders. Google for him, or he advertises on Ebay a lot. I've
used him. Got to be the first port of call.

Now I'm not quite sure why but if you're doing a top-end rebuild on a
bike (why else would you change the piston rings?) it doesn't strike me
as a very good idea to put *one* used ring in with a bunch of new ones?

Maybe worth talking to a Duc specialist to see if they'll sell you the
    ring on its own.

There are two top piston rings for sealing, and this third one (which I
broke) looks like its there for oil flow or something. Thus I thought it
would be ok to mix with the others... One of the cylinder head studs broke
(long story - Elefant specific problem)... I'm replacing them.

Ah, oil control ring. TBH I'd still try to find a new one but even if
you don't, at least it won't affect the compression too much.
